Although a certain English driver might not have had the best weekend at the British Grand Prix, that didnt stop a lot of English people celebrating the win by Renault and Fernando Alonso as the Renault F1 Teams factory is only 30 minutes from Silverstone at Enstone.

The British Grand Prix also marked the 200th Grand Prix start for Renault F1 Team at the Silverstone circuit where the original Renault team made its debut 29 years ago in 1977, and what better way to celebrate such a prestigious achievement than a fantastic victory?!

Fernando Alonso took his third consecutive win of the 2006 season and fifth in total this year - at the British Grand Prix, adding another first to his repertoire with his first F1 victory at Silverstone. Not only that, the weekend bought Alonsos fourth pole position in a row and his eighth podium finish in eight races!

Team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella also pulled off a dynamic drive to finish in fourth position, just falling short of a podium finish as he shadowed Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen to the chequered flag.

Defending champions, Renault F1 Team lead the Constructors Championship with a total of 106 points, and the win at Silverstone extends its lead to 31 points. Alonso has scored 74 points from a possible 80 and sits atop the Drivers Championship with a commanding lead of 23 points whilst Fisichella is in fourth place, just one point behind Kimi Raikkonen.

This month marks the one hundredth anniversary of first Grand Prix the French Grand Prix which was held over two days on a 60-mile road course near Le Mans on 27 June 1906 and was won by Renaults Hungarian driver Ferenc Szisz aboard his 13-litre 90CV AK.

A whole centenary later and Renault is still winning races.

As part of the 100 year anniversary celebrations, Renault is the headline sponsor of this years Goodwood Festival of Speed which will be held on 7-9th July. The main display in front of Goodwood House will be dedicated to 100 years of Grand Prix racing and Renault in particular. As well as the Championship winning R25 race car running in front of Goodwood House, two examples of the Vanderbilt Cup Renault from 1907, which is the nearest successor to the victor of the first Grand Prix and is virtually identical in shape and size, will run at Goodwood in July.

Giancarlo Fisichella will be at the show on Sunday, and Renault F1 Teams third driver Heikki Kovalainen will be there on Friday and Saturday to drive the R25 race car.
