Guy Wilks cruised to victory in the fourth round of the J-WRC (Junior World Rally Championships) in Argentina.
Guy, a former SGP Motorsport driver, showed his pedigree as he set a blistering pace and was almost untouchable by the rest of the field. Having such a commanding lead mean’t that he could back off the throttle slightly and ensure that he finished the stage cleanly.
However, despite his dominance in the third part of the race, the driver wasn’t taking things for granted when he said: “When you are trying to protect an advantage, it’s easy to almost over-concentrate; you are constantly looking out for problems rather than driving normally,” he said. “Nonetheless the car has been fantastic here.”
The Suzuki backed driver and his fellow team mate Per Gunner Andersson (Sweden) took a stage win each on the two long stages of today, with Wilks the quicker on the famous El Condor stage. At the end of the spectacular stage the Brit quipped: “It might be a great stage, but it’s not in this kind of car!” The two stages this morning run at very high altitude, making it difficult for cars with smaller engines to find power.

SGP Motorsport would like to wish Guy all the best for the rest of the series.
